Up, Up and Away
I courted a guy in the Air Force during my senior year of high school, but the age difference seemed almost insignificant because I had already been in college for almost a year. He was a 2nd Lieutenant from the Air Force Academy in pilot training, so he stayed very busy. We both knew he would be leaving for at least a year once his training was completed. He tried to convince me to attend my senior prom that year with a friend from high school (he was 22, so proms were out) but I wasn't going to go to the prom, period! He stayed in town an extra weekend to give me a "prom night." He had spent the last week getting re-checked-out in civilian aircrafts and practicing, and on my prom day he surprised me by personally piloting me in a Cessna to Jacksonville, FL! We got dressed up and he had a beautiful convertible there to drive to our dinner reservations. Then we went to a Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra performance under the stars with The Pointer Sisters. Afterwards, he flew me back that night. It was my first time in an airplane
